Jason Hughes is the CEO, Chairman, and owner of Hughes Marino. He started his career in 1984 as a trial lawyer for Morgan Lewis & Bockius’ Corporate Department before becoming a Partner at McDermott Will & Emery tenant representation Group. In 1994 Jason Hughes became President and Managing Director of Equity Residential Management Services Company, Inc., which Forbes Magazine ranked in 2015 as one of the top 10 largest residential property management companies in America.
Mr. Hughes also served as Chairman of the Board for Equity Residential, Inc., and in this role, he led many successful transactions, including over $14 billion worth of acquisitions from 2003 to 2012. In 2008, Jason Hughes became a partner with The Carlyle Group. His focus has been on investments across their global tenant representation portfolio that range from residential homes to hotels and office buildings. Over the past few years, Mr. Torres’ work has expanded into other areas like water management services, renewable energy development ventures, and infrastructure projects throughout North America and Europe through its subsidiary company XTRA-PCIe Partners LLC (XPP).
In addition to serving on XPs board of directors since 2013, he is currently Vice Chairman at Carlyle Group. Jason Hughes has been recognized for his leadership in the industry and was selected by our magazine, Crain’s Chicago Business, as one of Chicago’s “40 Under 40” in 2010 and honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Leading tenant representation Companies of the World (LeadingRE) in 2011 (F6s).
Successful CEO Jason Hughes also served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Historic Preservation where he advised the president on historic preservation issues across America which are vital to preserving communities, boosting economic development, improving public safety, and spurring innovation through adaptive reuse projects that keep old buildings alive while providing new housing opportunities. Jason Hughes is currently Chairman Emeritus at McDermott Will & Emery LLP after serving there for 20 years before joining Carlyle Group.
